English Language Tuition
My name is Roy Keene, and I am an English Language tutor living in South London near Kingston. I teach in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere at my home.
I started teaching English to foreign friends many years ago, and later I left my office job to teach English, French and other subjects to both adults and children. I was also a teaching assistant at a college. I have a certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and in teaching adults one-to-one, and now I have about twenty years' experience. I also know a lot about language and linguistics.
I like to teach for two hours so that there is no rush and there is enough time to do a lot of conversation, some vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading and a little writing, or more if you want it. I often teach the same person for one or two years. Then real, steady progress is possible.
For this reason, my prices are lower than other tutors: I charge £10 per hour, so you can afford to come every week (for two hours if possible). Many of my students are Polish, Hungarian, Italian, Slovak and so on, and some are from China, Iran, South America and other places. I have taught au pairs, teachers,, a designer, a life coach, an industrial expert, a factory supervisor, shop assistants and cleaners.
Some who could speak very little English can now hold a conversation with English people and enjoy English magazines and TV programmes. Some have progressed from basic level to advanced, and now use the language quite fluently and confidently.
